We receive regular requests from customers asking us to give valuations of customers second hand static caravans sited on a UK holiday parks.
Gaining an accurate valuation is not easy as a result of the numerous factors involved.
To help we have completed this article to help with some useful information as a starting point.
There is a Glasses guide that lists second hand value of static holiday caravans, however this is generally a trade only resource so you will only be able to access information via your park operator or a caravan dealer.
This figure is most useful if you are selling your static caravan on the basis that it will be removed from the holiday park as the Glasses guide valuation only relates to the value of the actual van. Most people sell on this basis when the van has come to the end of it usable life on a holiday park and will be sold for unsuited purposes, such as temporary accommodation for house builders.
As with purchases such as cars, static caravans are subject to depreciation, especially over this first 3 years.
If your static caravan is sited on a holiday park the original price was based on the caravan and the ability to site on that pitch. This combined value on a second hand van is often difficult to calculate and is dependent on what potential buyers are prepared to pay to effectively gain access to the park. As a result used vans on popular parks with no availability may command higher values than those with free pitches. Used product also allows potential buyers a lower entry level to ownership than a new van proposition.
This second hand value of a van sited on a holiday park will also depend on the following factors;

· Age
· Location on the Park
· Running cost at park
· Potential rental income from park
· External economic factors
Before advertising your van for sale on a UK park you should always refer to your purchase / license agreement regarding your obligation to the park owner with reference to selling the holiday home. You may need to seek their agreement and it is not uncommon for park operators to ask for a commission from the sale. Many park sales teams pay be able to market and sell the caravan on your behalf.
