We choose to complete our trial buy on The Isle of Wight offering short travel from home and lot to explore every time you visit!!!

The Search

We found the best way to approach this purchase was to focus on finding the right holiday park before looking in depth at static caravans for sale and makes at at models.

To help, we found the internet very useful when compiling a list of possible parks, as park operator and caravan websites are improving all the time.
We found parks in Dorset & Hampshire proved to be expensive, probably as a result of high demand and relatively low number of holiday parks. As a result we decided to look more closely at options on the Isle of Wight and draw up a short list.

Our reasons for choosing the Isle of Wight included;

• Good selection of family holiday parks
• Abundance of attractions
• Great Beaches and countryside
• Well priced
• Sense of escape – Even though it’s a short ferry crossing you really feel your are going on holiday, even if it’s just for the weekend.
• Events – The Isle of Wight now hosts large events such as The Isle Of Wight Festival and Cowes Week and owning a holiday home would be the perfect base so you could of attend these without expensive accommodation costs.

Our only real concern was the additional cost of ferry crossing to ‘’The Island’’. As an owner we were able to take advantage of Park Resorts discounted ferry rates. Prices depend greatly on the time of the year, but a weekend return car inclusive return ticket was typically around £50 – not cheap but equivalent to a tank of petrol in a small car!!!

In reality, as owners, we felt ferry costs were offset by the value for money that Isle of Wight parks offered.
