Attractions
This is a list of top rated attractions for visitors;
• Black Gang Chine Niton – Private theme park based near Ventnor fantastic for young children and adults alike. http://www.blackgangchine.com/index.php
• Isle of Wight Steam Railway – Step back in time and travel on this vintage steam train http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk
• Browns Gold Sandown – Family pitch and put for all ages 3 courses great one for Dads.
• Amazon World Arreton - Amazon World Zoo Park has a huge range of unusual rare and exotic animals. http://www.amazonworld.co.uk/
Walks
• Newport – Cowes – Newport / Try walking or cycling from Newport to West Cowes via cycle path crossing floating bridge and returning via East Cowes.
• Freshwater - Tennyson Monument / Steep demanding walk but well worth the effort with amazing views and view of Needles lighthouse.
• Devils Chimney – Situated in Bonchurch a fantastic walk through a cliff gorge, not to far but still feels adventurous. http://www.isleofwight.com/bonchurch.html
• Shanklin to Sandown – Very nice beach walk to explore both seaside towns, for those with lots of energy.
Towns
• Cowes – UK’s Yachting centre – view the boats with a walk along the promenade, great shops and pubs
• Godshill / Picture postcard village with thatched cottages and tea rooms
• Ventnor / Vintage seaside town with charm and history, now with its very own Michelin star restaurant.
Beaches
• St Helens – Little known area, lovely cafe and beach.
• Priory Bay – Drive to Seaview and walk round to Priory Bay, stunning tree lined bay with outstanding beach, well off the normal tourist route.
• Yaverland Sandown – Park at the main car park opposite ‘’The Isle of Wight Zoo’’ and walk to the left towards white cliffs. One of the Islands best beaches.
Restaurants
• The Little Gloucester at Gurnard – Very close to Thorness Bay Holiday Park, fine dining lunch or dinner for that special occasion. http://www.thelittlegloster.com/home/
• Eegons Cowes – Cafe food and nice cook breakfast
• Bahar Tandoori Cowes – The Yachties favourite Indian, good food, good value.
Pub Food
• The Woodvale Gurnard – Great pub grub value and quality
• Bargeman’s Rest Newport – Big pub meals, big value
• Folley Inn Wippingam (Between Cowes & Newport) – Good food set on the scenic banks of the river media.
