Static Holiday Caravan Verandas
Once you have decided on your holiday park, static caravan, specification and pitch there are still other extras that you may wish to consider.
One such extra that is becoming increasingly popular is a static caravan veranda joined to your holiday home. A veranda dramatically increases the useable space of your van and makes it easier to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. A well designed veranda allows outdoor seating and dining areas as well as extra storage opportunities. In addition to the practical benefits, such an addition also improves the look and feel of your holiday home and may well increase its value. To ensure the veranda is well built and safe it is essential to have it professionally installed by a qualified company. Many holiday parks will offer a veranda as a '''add on'' to your holiday home at the time of purchase and this package option may well prove to be the most convenient and cost effective option, however many owners do choose to add this option as a retrospective fit.
To help we enclose some frequently asked questions;
Do I need permission to fit a veranda?
If your van is sited on a holiday park you will normally need permission, always check with the park owner and check your licence agreement.
What are they made from?
You will generally have 2 choices of materials;
- Traditional Timber Deck - This material is more traditional and many people feel looks more attractive, however it will require more maintenance than modern UPVC materials, most owners tell us that they have to re-stain the wood every 4-5 years
- UPVC - This plastic material comes with a fake wood finish that creates an attractive finish. Obvious benefits are the lack of maintenance and hard wearing finish.
What choices will I have?
Generally you will need to choose between a pre made off the shelf veranda that is pre design to fit your model of van or go for a bespoke construction. Off the shelf verandas will be much cheaper to buy and be easier and quicker to fit. If you have individual requirements not met by a pre made design then a bespoke design my be the way ahead, but will increase costs.
How do I choose a company?
If you buy a pre made veranda as part of you new caravan packages this should be arranged by the park sales team with an approved supplier. If they do not offer this service or you are adding at a later stage ask the park owner for any contacts that have provided good work in the past, or ask other owners for recommendations. It may be worth getting a number of quotes to ensure you are getting the best deal and check that fitting is included in the price.
