Fair Trader Scheme for Holiday parks

NCC ‘FAIR TRADER’ SCHEME FOR HOLIDAY PARKS – NOW MORE THAN 100 PARTICIPATING PARKS

The National Caravan Council has announced that the number of UK holiday parks that have signed up for its ‘Fair Trader’ scheme has now topped the one hundred mark, including some of the biggest names in park operation.

The ‘Fair Trader’ scheme was launched to the trade last autumn and has its public launch at the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Leisure Show in Birmingham. Its aim is to help consumers thinking of buying a caravan holiday home to identify trustworthy parks that put the consumer firmly first - a ‘peace of mind’ guarantee that they are dealing with a business with high standards of customer care.A new consumer information leaflet, showing the ‘Fair Trader’ logo, explains the advantages of dealing with a ‘Fair Trader’ park, which includes assurances that:

  • The park has achieved a minimum of 3 stars under the British Graded Holiday Park Scheme (the national standards operated by Visit Britain that assesses the quality and standards of the facilities on the park)
  • The park complies with the industry Code of Practice and its agreements are fair, transparent and written in plain English
  • The park has been thoroughly assessed by an independent quality assessor (and may be subjected to unannounced periodic checks).

The scheme is open to all NCC member holiday parks, both large and small.  Park groups that have achieved the award to date include British Holidays (Bourne Leisure), Hoburne, Parkdean, Park Resorts, Haulfryn and independent park operators Rodger Fish and Son in Scotland. The scheme is the latest advance in the NCC’s ongoing commitment to quality and customer care in the caravan industry.
