Most customers looking for a static holiday caravan will search for the right holiday park prior to making a choice on the actual model and specification of caravan.
This is essential, as finding the right holiday park, that suits you individual needs, is vital to successful long term ownership.
Once you have decided on the park you will then focus on the selection of a caravan. Most parks will deal with a number of manufactures to give customers an extensive choice. Should you buy a sited van from a holiday park the caravan will normally be purchased via their sales representative rather than direct from the manufacturer. Many buyers collect brochures direct from manufactures to research more extensively the specific models and available extras, much in the same way as you would if buying a car. If you prefer to actually see the caravan most leading manufacturers will display at the key caravan exhibitions, see events.
Static Holiday Homes are made from high quality materials and use modern construction techniques and are design for holiday use rather than full time habitation. Your caravan should be built to British and European standard: BS EN 1647. Some luxury caravans are now built to BS3632 which confirms to residential standards in which park homes conform.
Static caravans normal come in one or two sections and can be up to 22ft wide and 60ft long. A one-piece model is called a single unit and a two-piece model is known as a twin. Generally a twin will have to be assembled on site.
You will need to decided on the number of bedrooms and berths you require, most manufactures have models from 2 – 4 bedrooms with up to eight berths and each have their own individual layout preferences. Most companies offer a number of ‘’ranges’’ from budget to luxury specification.
When deciding on size and specification it is important to ensure that you cater for your needs, but also consider the requirements should you wish to sublet.
Much of the decision on caravan model will related to your budget, however people intending to spend large periods of the summer season in the caravan themselves may wish to opt for higher specification bathrooms and kitchens and want more living space. A buyer who intends to sublet for a large percentage of the season may prefer a standard specification that is more economical to maintain. Again if subletting is a priority a caravan with an extra bedroom will cost more to buy but may yield more rental income.
