Static Holiday Home Shows

After buying a house or a car a static holiday home is probably one of the largest capital purchases you can ever make. As a result you need to complete you research and become an expert.

As outlined in our buyers guide there are 2 processes to buying a static caravan;

1)      Finding and selecting the park and pitch

2)      Choosing a Static Caravan model to be placed on your pitch

This article deals with using the national caravan shows and how they can help you select a van that best meets your requirements. As with motor and boat shows, these large exhibitions give customers the opportunity to view a large range of static caravans and lodges in one convenient location.

Most major manufacturers attend the major shows, however if you want to check if a specific company is attending make sure you check out the show website, before you make the decision to attend. Be aware some parks have set contracts and preferential deals with certain manufactures and you make wish to ensure they are represented. Be cautious of pricing at shows as the majority of static caravan holiday homes to be sited on a holiday park will have to be purchased via the park owner. As a result manufacture ‘’van’’ only rates quoted at shows may not match the inclusive sited price that you will be charged by the holiday park.

Remember the shows tend to be very large and can be a little daunting, so have a plan of what you need to see and get a show guide and map as soon as possible. It will help if you have an idea of what your budget will be and basic specification. It can get very confusing comparing different manufacturers if you do not have basic specification requirement on key issues such as the number of berths. Many people gather brochures from the park owner or direct from the holiday home manufacturer prior to attending a show. Be selective of the brochures you pick up at the show as you may well end up being bogged down and having to carry large amounts of information. Ask about any unique extras that are offered and costs of adding extras.

As well as caravans exhibitors there is normally a multitude of ‘’related’’ companies offering products and services to new owners that may well be of interest.
